SBDC Offers NxLevel Entrepreneurial Training

Program in Salem

 

The Southeastern IN Small Business Development Center (SBDC) in conjunction with the Community Learning Center of Washington County will host the ten-week NxLevel Entrepreneurial Training Program starting Wednesday, May 14.  The class will meet at the Learning Center, 1707 N Shelby St., Salem, on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. The class will extend ten-weeks through July 23rd (excluding the week of the 4th of July) and will be taught by Bill Cord, SBDC Advisor and certified NxLevel Training Instructor.  Professionals in their areas of expertise will serve as guest speakers for each module as well.  

 

NxLevel addresses the special needs of entrepreneurs by providing a practical hands-on, common sense approach to developing their small business, whether just starting out or ready to grow.  Students will learn planning, marketing, sales, finances, record keeping and management.  The fee for the entire course, manual and materials is $249 for the first person and $125 for the second person attending from the same business. The Community Learning Center has partial scholarships for eligible Washington County residents.  People interested in the scholarship should call the Learning Center at 883-6989 for an application.

q   Feb. 14 - $25	Advanced Excel	Data Management in Excel:  use data management tools to design, sort, filter, set custom criteria, validate data, and manage a list database.
q   Feb. 21 - $25	Advanced Excel	Automating and Customizing Excel:  automate with macros; customize toolbars, menus, and keystrokes; create custom lists/fill series.
q   Feb. 28 - $25	Advanced Excel	Managing Conditions:  use IF, CountIf, SumIf, LookUp tables, conditional sum wizard, and conditional formatting to facilitate decision making.
q   Mar. 6, 20,        and 27 - $60	Computer Basics	For the beginner - learn how to use a Windows computer to play games, format and print documents, store and retrieve files, burn CD's, and take files with you on a flash drive. Also learn how to customize your computer to make it operate the way you want it to!
q   Apr. 3 - $25	Internet/ Email	Getting Started:  the basics of surfing the Internet, searching for information, and setting up an email account.
q   Apr. 10 - $25	Word	Formatting with Word:  use the formatting toolbar, format menu, columns and tables, headers and footers, page setup, and the drawing toolbar to format your documents.
q   Apr. 17 - $25	Publisher	Creating a Brochure:   use a desktop publishing program to design and produce a tri-fold brochure.
q   May 1 - $25	PowerPoint	Running the Show:  create a slide show; use transitions and animations; apply designs.
q   May 8 - $25	Excel	Getting Started in Excel:  create, edit, format, and print a spreadsheet.
q   May 15 - $25	Excel	Excel Calculations:  create formulas, use pre-programmed formulas (functions), and perform calculations across multiple worksheets.
q   May 22- $25	Excel	Charting:  create, modify, format, and print charts.
